Emma Dolan Birth Doula in Portland Maine!

I have been attending births in the Seacoast region of Maine and New Hampshire for 8 years now! Woah! Primarily I have been at Wentworth Douglass Hospital (where I am affiliated), with a handful of births at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Exeter Hospital, and York (before they closed). I have been out to The Eliot as well a few times. And more recently I have been up to Maine Medical Center in Portland!

In the past I haven’t specifically advertised that I will go to Portland for births, but after taking some clients who delivered there…I don’t know what was stopping me. Yes, Portland is a longer drive for me than down the road to WDH, but it’s an easy drive and very manageable in reality.

Maine Medical Center is a very different hospital from WDH, but rather than being apprehensive of change I am curious to learn about their system. After a few births there I am clearer about residents vs. attending doctors, how they manage inductions, anesthesia, delivery, and postpartum, which has helped me prepare and set good expectations for my next Portland families.

All this to say, if you or someone you know is planning to birth in Portland and is looking for doula support, I am an available option!
